Catherine Boivie - CEO Inventure Solutions Inc and Senior Vice President Information Technology Vancity
Dr. Catherine Aczel Boivie was appointed to the position of CEO Inventure Solutions Inc and Senior Vice President Information Technology Vancity on September 2nd, 2008. Catherine comes to the Vancity Group from Pacific Blue Cross, where she served as Senior Vice-President of Information Technology and was a significant participant in the design and implementation of PBC’s strategic business plan. Prior to that, Catherine was CIO and VP of Information Services for the British Columbia Automobile Association. So, you can see that she has an affinity for member-owned organizations and the value (and values) they bring to their membership.
Catherine has a well-established reputation for excellence in leadership in the IT field receiving the 2008 Chief Information Officer Leadership award at the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance Innovation Awards. That builds on a previous award she received as IT Executive of the Year for Midsize Enterprises from Gartner, an award that honours IT executives throughout North America whose ideas and work have made a positive impact on business.
Catherine’s view is that technology is critical to the success of a business, not only in day-to-day operations, but as an enabler of business goals. And to quote her (quoting an African proverb): “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.”
An energetic contributor beyond the workplace, Catherine is the founding president of the CIO Association of Canada, is on the Board of Directors of the YWCA of Vancouver—where she established a fund to provide child care to support single mothers wishing to return to the workplace—and is in demand as a speaker and author on IT leadership.
